According to Carrollton Police:
Steve Norton, 4/30/1954, of 1858 S Highway 27 was riding a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle Eastbound on Bankhead Highway in the inside lane near 623 Bankhead Highway (AutoZone).
Marcus Shannon, 2/1/1974, of 125 Lost Lake Dr. Villa Rica was in a Chevrolet SUV attempting to turn left into Auto Zone from the center turn lane.
Norton’s motorcycle struck the passenger’s side of Shannon’s vehicle. Norton was treated on-scene by officers as well as medical personnel before being transported to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. Norton would later succumb to his injuries sustained in the collision.
Shannon was arrested, transported to the Carroll County Jail, and charged with the following:
Homicide by Vehicle 1st
DUI Drugs Less Safe
Failure to Yield.
This investigation is on-going. Norton’s family was notified in person shortly after the collision.
