CHS finishes fifth in the GADA Directors Cup

CARROLLTON, GA — Facing stiff competition in the state’s largest classification, Carrollton High School secured an impressive fifth-place in the 2023-24 Directors Cup results announced by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association.

The Directors Cup honors athletic departments in all Georgia High School Association (GHSA) classifications for their excellence and superior performance. CHS athletic teams earned points based on their success in GHSA postseason competitions, with schools having nearly 1,000 more students in enrollment.

The CHS girls programs finished third among 40 schools in the Directors Cup, earning a total of 636 points, just 40 points shy of first place. This is the highest point total they have ever achieved in this year-long competition. Fourteen out of the 15 programs competed in the GHSA postseason, with the girls wrestling teams and gameday cheer team earning 300 points for winning their respective state championships.

The CHS boys programs finished fourth in the Directors Cup, accumulating 553 points. All 11 boys programs earned points for CHS, led by the track and field team, which concluded the 2024 season with a GHSA state championship.

In addition to their statewide success, the Trojans dominated their own region, winning by 300 points and marking their seventh consecutive year of achieving this feat.

CHS Athletic Director Paul Fitz-Simons expressed his excitement for the accomplishments of the athletic department this past year.

“I am incredibly proud of all of our student-athletes and coaches for the way they represented  Carrollton High School this past year,” said Fitz-Simons. “Securing fifth place for the Directors Cup in the state’s largest classification is a remarkable achievement and is a testament to the collective effort we’ve put into building a strong and successful athletic program. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of our programs for the upcoming school year.”
