WHAT: Weather permitting, crews will close the left eastbound lane of I-20 Thursday night to tie it into the crossover section of the interstate to switch one eastbound lane to a contraflow design. The contraflow lane will be beside the westbound lanes but still move traffic east.
Once the tie-in is complete, crews will shift traffic onto the new eastbound contraflow lane and close a portion of the eastbound lanes for striping and barrel alignment. In addition to the contraflow lane, the left eastbound lane will reopen for traffic, but the right eastbound lane will remain closed for the next stage of construction.
WHEN: Thursday, March 26 at 9 p.m. until Friday, March 27 at 5 a.m.
WHERE: The left eastbound lane of I-20 will be closed at milepost 18 and at milepost 24 for the crossover tie-in work. Once that is complete, the contraflow lane will be open while the other two eastbound lanes are closed from mileposts 18 to 19 for striping. The inside eastbound lane will reopen after the work is complete.
Advisory: Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones.
