The Georgia State Patrol says speed may have been a factor in a single-vehicle crash on I-20 Tuesday morning that resulted in two fatalities, and affected westbound traffic for hours.
According to the initial report, GSP Post #4 in Villa Rica responded around 4:30am to investigate the crash on I-20 west near mile marker 11, the exit for Bremen.
It was determined the vehicle, a 2013 Infiniti g37 passenger car, was traveling west at a high rate of speed. The vehicle rotated, traveled off of the north edge of the roadway, and struck multiple trees.
The driver, identified as 27-year old Theotis Edmonds of Alabama was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene. The passenger, 26-year old Christopher Hunter, also of Alabama, was taken to Tanner Higgins Hospital in Bremen and was later pronounced dead.
The cities of residence were not immediately available for either man.
