A Temple, GA woman faces several charges in Douglas County, GA after police there say she shot a teenager in the face during a “road rage” incident on Interstate-20 Sunday.
According to the Douglasville, GA Police Department: On 5/1/2022 at 4:40 pm Douglasville Police officers were dispatched to Fairburn Road near I-20 in Douglasville for a person shot. Officers learned that a 17-year-old female had been shot in the face. The victim was a front seat passenger in a vehicle which was traveling eastbound on I-20 from Villa Rica. Witnesses in the victim’s vehicle said a female in a black sedan had been following them since Villa Rica where some type of road rage incident began. Somewhere on I-20 EB near Hwy 5, the suspect pulled up alongside the victim’s vehicle and fired at least one shot. The suspect vehicle then exited at Chapel Hill Road and went in an unknown direction. A passenger in the victim’s vehicle was able to take a photo of the suspect at the time of the incident.
The 17-year-old victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and was last reported in stable condition.
The photo of the suspect was posted on social media and within a short time multiple people called and gave her identity.
Around 11pm the suspect, 30-year-old Brittney Griffith of Temple GA, turned herself in at the police department.
Detectives learned that the suspect’s three children, ages 4-9, were in the vehicle with her at the time of the incident. Griffith has been charged with: Aggravated Assault (4 counts), Cruelty to Children (3 counts), Possession of a Firearm during commission of a felony (1 count).
On Monday 5/2/2022, Griffith was denied bond during her initial court hearing.
