22-Year-Old Carrollton Man Killed In Apparent Head On Motor Vehicle Collision

Authorities say a 22-year-old Carrollton man died after the dirt bike he was driving collided with a 4-wheeler on a Carroll County road Thursday evening.

Georgia State Patrol Public Information Director, Lt. Mark Riley tells WLBB Radio:

(at approximately 7:00pm) GSP was called to investigate a two vehicle crash on Old Four Notch Road near Horsley Mill Road. The preliminary investigation shows a Kawasaki dirt bike was northbound on Old Four Notch Road, negotiating a left curve, on the wrong side of the roadway. A Polaris four-wheeler was southbound on Old Four Notch Road, negotiating a right curve. Mr. Brandon M. Thomaston was driving on the wrong side of the roadway, causing a head-on collision between the Kawasaki dirt bike and the Polaris four-wheeler. The area of impact was in the south lane of Old Four Notch Road. Mr. Brandon M. Thomaston, 22 years old of Carrollton, suffered fatal injuries.

These are the preliminary investigative findings and this crash is still under investigation.

Carroll County Coroner Keith Hancock says Thomaston was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle is currently being treated for injuries suffered in the collision.
