It’s National Safe Digging Month!
The month of April is recognized by Congress across the U.S. as National Safe Digging Month (NSDM). It’s an important time to remember how critical it is to contact 811 at least a few days before putting a shovel, backhoe, auger, or deep tiller in the ground.
No matter how small a project may seem, it’s important to contact 811 to have the approximate location of buried utilities marked before breaking ground. A great resource for state-specific safe digging information is ClickBeforeYouDig.com. Click on your state to get information on when you need to contact 811 and how long your ticket will last. The website also provides contact information for each state 811 center.
