The suspect from a recent robbery in Villa Rica has been apprehended and is now behind bars. On July 9 Villa Rica Police were called to the Bank OZK branch on Highway 78 following a robbery report. Witnesses told police that a man wearing a red hoodie and a mask had entered the bank with a handgun and demanded money from employees. After getting the money, he fled on foot.
Thursday afternoon officers arrested 21 year-old Avery Katez Lane of Villa Rica on charges of armed robbery. Captain Keith Shaddix credits his detectives hard work in apprehending Lane, especially the work of Detective Blake Terry.
“This has been a case where Detective Terry took the lead and he did the brunt of the work, but there has been six of us working on this for the past ten day,” said Shaddix. “I am amazed at the detectives about how relentless they were. There were several times that I had to make them go home.”
Shaddix said that Lane acted alone and does not have a record of any previous violent crimes. Lane is currently being held at the Carroll County Jail.
