CARROLLTON, GA – A special evening of special recognition was the highlight of the Carrollton Board of Education meeting Tuesday, which included honoring seven Carrollton High School seniors who are this year’s inductees into a special class of CHS alumni.

Since the Class of 2007, Carrollton High School annually has identified seniors who represent the “Three A’s,” a designation honoring personal achievements in Academics, Arts and Athletics. Part of this recognition pays tribute to the students’ ability to balance all three, a testament to their perseverance and character, said CHS Principal Ian Lyle.

“It is an achievement to excel in any of these areas,” said Lyle. “When considering the demands to be exceptional in all three, you come to appreciate how well-rounded and dedicated these students are.”

More than 90 CHS alumni have been honored with this award. The work ethic these students have exhibited over the years has translated into their adult lives, too, starting with successful college careers and later the transition to their professional lives. They will join the other honor recipients in a display on the third floor of the high school’s main academic building.

This year’s AAAs Honor Roll includes:

TOBEY BARDEN

His academic prowess is without question – Tobey Barden’s credentials earned him status as an honor marshal his junior year, and his performance since has never waned. But what makes his story even more impressive is his additional leadership work, ranging from participation in Boys State to service as NationalHonor Society co-president and senior class Student Council secretary to service on the first Carrollton Youth City Council. Tobey’s school spirit has also been recognized, earning the Trojan tennis team spirit award and selection as a representative on the 2021 Homecoming Court. He is also an astute artist, taking AP Studio senior year and plays the guitar. He is the son of Brian and Amy Barden and has a sister, Ella, a CHS junior.

JEB JACKSON

John-Everette Jackson, better known as Jeb, lives up To the reputation of the well-rounded – and well-grounded – student.  He has an exceptional record in the classroom, earning his academic letter all four years of high school, and a transcript that features a listing of rigorous AP courses. Jeb also excels in the arts arena, spending two years in the Trojan band where he not only marched but also performed with the concert and jazz bands. In athletics, Jeb is a three-year letterman in cross country and track, helping both teams earn region crowns. He is the son of Brad and Candi Jackson and has a brother, Wyatt, a sophomore at CHS.

KARLY LAWLER

While her academic credentials are nothing to overlook considering her status as an honor student with eight AP classes plus IB Spanish on her transcript, Karly’s real passion is dreaming, creating and living art. In fact, she says she’s taken visual art classes every year since Pre-K and adds to that portfolio work in drafting and design. Karly also is a versatile athlete who focused on lacrosse all four years of high school and ran cross country her freshman and sophomore years. She is the daughter of Stacy and Kristae Lawler and has a sister, CHS alum Katie, now a student at the University of Alabama.

WILL MASON

Will Mason is an incredibly busy teen between all his sports, academics, and civic and community activities. However, one area of service many may not know about is his secret alter ego as Hector, the beloved Trojan mascot. But even with Hector’s demanding schedule, Will still managed to be a three-sport letterman in wrestling, lacrosse and cross country. He also prioritized leadership with service on the Student Council and local and state government committees and was part of the CHS debate team. Yet his academics never suffered; he has an “A” average that includes seven rigorous AP courses. He is the son of Mike and Wendy Mason and has sisters who are alumni:  Abbey (2016) and Mallory (2018).        

ZOE MUHAMMAD

Zoë Muhammad posts an impressive GPA in the top 5% of her class, earning her the prestigious title as an honor marshal junior year. She is also in the IB program and has received several honors for academic work. In visual arts, she challenges herself through IB Art and balances her time as an athlete for the track team and volleyball, where she has earned honors for exceptional performance, named MVP as a sophomore. She is the daughter of Zahir and Annette Muhammad and has a brother, Zachery, a CHS junior.                     

GEORGIA NOORI

Georgia Noori is a full-throttle International Baccalaureate diploma candidate who boasts an enviable GPA and has earned accolades for her academic performance, including Governor’s Honors nominations in French and communicative arts. Her strong IB focus allows her to also nurture her love of all things art with IB Art, following earlier years of training. Georgia’s also a three-sport athlete, competing in swimming, track, and cross country and has earned many honors including setting a new school record in the 4x800m relay. She is the daughter of Neema and Susan Hackett Noori and has a brother, James, in 10th grade.

DEMONTAE WILLIAMS

Performing across all disciplines is something De’Montae Williams doesn’t take lightly – he puts the same dedicated effort toward academics, arts and athletics, proving his mettle in all three. He manages to balance an ‘”A” average while excelling in vocal performance, validated by participation in honor chorus and the literary team quartet. He also is a versatile athlete who competes on the Trojan tennis team, runs cross country, and is an inaugural member of the CHS Dance Team. He is the son of Sycondia Daniel and has two sisters, Alexus Earl and Ja’Neja Williams.
