Ribbon-Cutting Planned for Villa Rica Splash Pad

Villa Rica city officials will dedicate the Gold Dust Park Splash Pad this week, in advance of its Memorial Day grand opening.

The ribbon-cutting will take place 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 11, at the park, located at 646 Industrial Blvd., Villa Rica. Many officials have been invited to attend, including members of City Council, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners, and representatives of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. Also expected to attend will be key staff and the consultant who designed the facility.

The Splash Pad was in operation during the summer of 2022, but city officials held back on an official grand opening while staff prepared a list of rules and regulations for the facility.  Those rules will be in effect when the Splash Pad opens on Memorial Day weekend (May 27-29).

The rules, which will be posted at the venue, are primarily designed for the safety of those who use the Splash Pad. But the rules will also prevent the facility from being overcrowded, and to protect its mechanical systems from breakdown or other mishaps that would prevent the Splash Pad from being in operation.  Patron safety

This year, there will be a $2 per-person admission fee, which will be collected electronically by debit card, either onsite or via the park department’s Community Pass system. In addition, each user of the Splash Pad — which has a 50-person capacity — will be limited to a 90-minute session. However, additional sessions can be purchased for an another $2 per-person fee.

Private parties can rent the Splash Pad for $150 with a two-hour minimum. The Splash Pad pavilion is not available for rent. Private parties are limited to 50 Splash Pad admissions.

Other rules, which were adopted by the City Council at the April 11 meeting, include no inflatable pool toys, furniture (such as pool chairs), no amplified music, no food or glass containers, and proper attire, including swim diapers.
