The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle crash in Bowdon late Saturday afternoon that resulted in the death of a 36-year-old Ranburne woman and injury to three juveniles. Initially, investigators believe the crash resulted after the vehicle’s driver suffered a seizure.
According to the preliminary report released on Sunday:
“On September 9th at approximately 5:40 pm troopers from Post 4 Villa Rica responded to a fatal crash on GA 166, east of Forest Hill Road. The investigation determined a red GMC Acadia was traveling east on GA 166 and traveled off of the south edge of the roadway.
The vehicle struck a mailbox and a ditch. The vehicle became airborne, rotated while the air, and overturned, striking a power pole with its roof and came to an uncontrolled final upright in a private driveway.
The driver and two other juvenile passengers were ejected. A third juvenile passenger remained in the vehicle. The driver, Ms. Heather l. Martin succumbed to her injuries on-scene. All of the juvenile passengers were transported to CHOA-Egleston.”
