Qualifying For Local Elections

After qualifying ended last week, there will be two contested races for the Carroll County Schools Board of Education and one contested race for the Board of Commissioners.

Clint Chance and Matthew Momtahan will be on the May 22nd ballot in the District Two Commissioner’s  race to succeed Vickie Anderson, who is not seeking re-election.
 
Bill Kecskes will challenge incumbent Donald Nixon for his District Five seat on the BOE. Bryant Turner and Michelle Conerly both qualified to run for the District Seven seat, replacing Dr. Jon Anderson.
 
Meanwhile, Michelle Morgan and George Chambers secured four more years on the Board of Commissioners. Sandra Morris will also serve another term on the school board. No one qualified to run against the incumbents.
 
In Haralson County, one contested race for the Board of Commissioners and two contested races for the Haralson County Board of Education resulted from last week’s qualifying period.
 
Self employed welder, Brad Vines of Tallapoosa is challenging District Four Commissioner Sammy Robinson for his post on the May 22nd ballot.
 
Kendall Robinson of Waco has qualified to run against Bill Johnston on the school board; David Denman of Bremen will challenge incumbent James Watson for his District Five school board seat.

Jamie Bennet secured  four more years on the Board of Commissioners and Mike Benefield will serve another term on the school board as no one qualified to run against them.
