Carrollton’s Dawnbreakers Rotary Club on Wednesday took time to honor local law enforcement. Among those recognized were three Carrollton Police Officers who were recently credited with saving a man’s life. In a letter written by the man’s wife to the police department, she suggested that Officers Nick Cline, David Hernandez and Matt Jones went above and beyond duty, in bringing her husband back to her.
Chief Joel Richards read the letter aloud on Wednesday.
They were very patient and very kind to the broken and depressed man. My husband and I have separated because of his drinking, so I was not there. I have no idea what these precious men said to my husband but whatever they said was what my husband needed. They took him to Tanner and as of today he is getting treatment. I asked my husband what he thought it was that made him hear what the officers said. He said they cared and listened to him and at that moment my husband felt like, “if these officers saw something worth saving, he ought to believe in himself.”
These officers made sure he was ok before leaving him in the hospital and even checked on him later. They saved my husband’s life and gave him back to me. Â
The Carrollton Dawnbreakers Rotary Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30 at the Sunset Hills Country Club.
