Man Struck While Riding on Bicycle on Highway 166

On Monday, Carrollton Police said the 22-year old Carrollton man who was bicycling on the Carrollton Bypass at around 6:00 AM Saturday when he was struck from behind by a motor vehicle, was racing to comfort a friend who had allegedly been raped earlier that morning. The bicyclist died as a result of his injuries.

Carrollton Police had been at the scene of the alleged rape and arrested the accused male, who has been identified as Eugene Bonner of Carrollton. When police left, the alleged rape victim called her friend, who has been identified as Larry Strozier. Strozier chose to ride his bicycle to the femaleÂ’s residence. He was then struck by a vehicle while on the Highway 166 Bypass, near Blandenburg Road.

Police are awaiting a toxicology report for Strozier. The driver of the vehicle has not been charged at this time.
