Life In Prison For Man Accused In Kidnapping/ Sexual Assault Of UWG Student

The District Attorney announces the conviction by guilty plea of Timothy Curtise Wilson in Carroll County Superior Court.   Today, the defendant received a life sentence for Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, and Hijacking a Motor Vehicle.   The defendant received the maximum sentence under the law for Kidnapping with Bodily Injury and is expected to spend the rest of his life in prison.

The following information was released by Senior Assistant District Attorney, J.W. Hunt, Monday 5:00pm:

On September 4, 2017, the Defendant abducted a local woman from the parking lot of the Kroger grocery store located on South Park Street in Carrollton.  Security cameras captured the defendant holding an object in his hand and approaching the victim. A witness overheard the victim say “no” before the defendant forced the woman into her car and drove her into Atlanta.

While in the car, the victim secretly used her cellular telephone to send messages to her boyfriend, telling him she had been kidnapped, that her abductor had a knife, and that she thought he was going to kill her.  The boyfriend immediately notified the Carrollton Police Department, who began an all points search for the vehicle.  Using the GPS on the victim’s telephone, officers were able to put the victim in the vicinity of Monroe Drive in Atlanta.  While in Atlanta, the defendant parked behind a church, sexually assaulted the victim, and then put her in the trunk of the car.  From this point on, law enforcement heard nothing from the victim for a number of hours.

Alerted to situation, Atlanta Police began looking for the victim’s car.  At some point in the early morning hours, the defendant is spotted in the victim’s car and fled from the police.  During the chase, he hit a pursuing police vehicle and then fled on foot, but not before cutting himself with the knife he used to abduct the victim.

The victim was rescued and taken to Grady Hospital where she notified Carrollton Police officers that she was safe.

Later that day, Carrollton Police Department Investigators Blake Hitchcock and Brandon Sheffield were in Atlanta assisting in the search for the defendant.  From the video of the abduction and from the descriptions provided by others officers, the investigators developed Timothy Wilson as a suspect.  While in Atlanta, Investigators Hitchcock and Sheffield saw a man fitting Wilson’s description sitting on park bench near Ponce De Leon Avenue.  The man was shirtless and nursing a cut hand.  The investigators, along with Atlanta Police officers, approached the defendant and took him into custody without further resistance.

DNA analysis later linked the defendant to blood found in the victimÂ’s car and to evidence recovered from the victim left by the sexual assault.

The District Attorney wishes to commend Carrollton Police Officer Tiffany Bennett, the first responding officer, and Investigators Brandon Sheffield and Blake Hitchcock for their quick action leading to the rescue of the victim.  Their teamwork, tenacity, and professionalism resulted in the return to safety of a brave and blameless woman and in the apprehension of a dangerous, violent predator.   The citizens of the Carrollton and the State of Georgia are much safer because of their tireless efforts.

I finally wish recognize Senior Assistant District Attorney Anne Allen, who has distinguished herself once again as Carroll County’s top prosecutor of violent sexual predators.   The citizens of Carroll County, the Coweta Judicial Circuit, and the State of Georgia have been well served by this veteran prosecutor’s thirty-two years of service.
