Haralson County Sees Drop in February Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Haralson County recorded an unemployment rate of 3 percent, down one-tenth of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 4.3 percent. Additionally, unemployment claims were down in Haralson County’s while the number of employed was at an all-time high in the month of February.

“Thanks to the hard work of many Georgians, February saw gains in jobs, labor force, and the number of employed for much of the state,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “As we look towards the spring and summer months, we remain committed to working with employers as they continue to fill open positions with suitable job seekers.”

The labor force increased in February by 111 to 13,112. That number is up 468 over-the-year.

Haralson County ended February with 12,721 employed residents, an all-time high. That number increased by 119 in February and was up 615 as compared to last year.

Initial claims for unemployment were down 9 percent in February. When compared to last February, claims were down about 82 percent.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed 162 active job postings in Haralson County for February.
