Haralson County government officials are planning to meet up with local municipality leaders this month to gauge their interest in asking voters to continue the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax at the polls in March of 2020.
The current 1-cent tax which was approved by voters in 2014, took effect in 2015 and does not expire until March 2021. If put to voters and approved, a new SPLOST period could begin in April of 2021.
Projects paid for through the current SPLOST include the renovation of the former boot camp into the Haralson County Jail, new ball fields for the county rec department, 911 upgrades and two new fire trucks.
