The Georgia Bureau Of Investigation has been asked by the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the death of an inmate in the Haralson County Jail.
According to reports, Friday morning, a jail employee found 67-year old Charles Dennis Smith of Buchanan- “unresponsive, in his cell.”
Records show that Smith was being held on a parole violation relating to domestic violence charges through the Buchanan Police Department.
Smith had been out on parole after serving time behind bars for a felony murder conviction in Cobb County in the early 1990’s..
Smith’s body has been taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
