Newnan Utilities has been a steadfast supporter of the University of West Georgia for more than a decade, contributing to several initiatives and programs and supporting the overall growth of the university. This longstanding relationship has now reached a new milestone with the recently established Newnan Utilities Endowed Scholarship at UWG, a testament to their commitment to education and the local community.
“Our goal at Newnan Utilities is to serve and advocate for our city by enhancing the quality of life throughout Newnan,” said Jeff Phillips, general manager at Newnan Utilities. “We believe that building a better community starts with investing in our people. This scholarship embodies that mission by providing students with the resources they need to succeed. By supporting their educational journey, we are not only helping the individual but also creating a better future for our entire community.”
The endowed scholarship will alleviate the financial burden of higher education, allowing students at UWG Newnan to focus more on their students and future goals.
“Newnan Utilities has had a long relationship with UWG,” said Joni Scarbrough, director of administrative services at Newnan Utilities. “By establishing an endowed scholarship, we can create a legacy that will impact students for generations to come.”
Over the years, Newnan Utilities has played a significant role in supporting various initiatives at UWG. Their contributions include the development of UWG Newnan, enhancing student outcomes through the Presidential Black Tie Gala, supporting UWG Athletics initiatives and more. These efforts highlight Newnan Utilities’ commitment to UWG and its mission to provide first-choice opportunities for students.
“We are honored UWG has invested in Newnan for generations,” said Phillips. “UWG has created countless opportunities for students and fostered a thriving educational environment in our community. Their dedication to investing in and being an integral part of our community has made a significant impact. We are proud to partner with UWG and look forward to continuing our efforts to enhance students’ lives.”
Newnan Utilities has long been a pillar of support for UWG, consistently demonstrating a commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering community growth.
“Newnan Utilities is an essential partner in our mission of curating a first-choice university for all of our students,” said Allyson Bretch, interim vice president for university advancement and CEO of UWG philanthropic foundations. “Their contributions have profoundly impacted our students and the broader community, and we are deeply grateful for their unwavering support.”
