CARROLLTON, GA — The Georgia Softball Dugout Club (GADC) has announced its 2024 Hall of Fame class featuring former Carrollton High School head varsity softball coach Lisa Phillips.
Phillips took over the softball program at CHS in 2006, and in 2011, the program won its first-ever region championship. The Trojans won five more region titles under Phillips’ leadership.
As a head coach for 25 seasons, Phillips amassed 583 wins, putting her in the top ten all-time in Georgia. She led her teams to the playoffs in 22 out of 25 seasons with 11 region titles, 11 elite-8 appearances, two state runners-up, and one state title.
“Anytime you receive an honor like this, it’s truly a tribute to those around you,” Phillips said. “I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding schools, administrators, and assistant coaches who supported me every season. For 24 of my 25 seasons, my husband, Terry Jay Phillips, served as my lead assistant coach, and for all 16 of my seasons as Trojan head coach, Ellie Turner was right there with us. In addition to her role as my assistant, Coach Turner also made a significant impact by starting the middle school lacrosse program.”
Although Phillips stepped down from Varsity competition after the 2021 season, she continues to serve as the head coach for the Carrollton Middle School program. She will be officially inducted into the GADC Hall of Fame at their annual coaches clinic on Saturday, December 14.
