Carrollton, GA (March 21, 2023) – On March 20, 2023, while conducting routine patrol, an officer got
behind a vehicle that failed to maintain its travel lane. The vehicle’s tag information also indicated the
registered owner had an active warrant. The officer was able to determine the driver matched the
photograph of the registered owner. At that time, he conducted a traffic stop. When the officer
approached the vehicle, he noticed the odor of marijuana as well as the driver appearing to be
intoxicated. When asked to step out of the vehicle, the driver, identified as Akeem Blue, rapidly
accelerated away from the traffic stop.
A short vehicle pursuit ensued, but ended when Blue’s vehicle came to an abrupt stop. At that time, the
passenger in the vehicle notified officers that he had been shot when Blue attempted to throw a firearm
out of the window during the pursuit. Officers immediately rendered aid to the passenger and the
firearm was recovered.
The passenger was transported to an Atlanta area hospital via helicopter.
