After discussions with his wife, encouragement from constituents and prayer, Carroll County’s District Six Commissioner George Chambers announced that he will seek re-election this year.
 
The seventh generation independent cattleman said he wants to continue to work for District Six and its residents.
 
Chambers commented on what he would like to accomplish if elected, “We’ve got a lot of things that we have started, from the gymnastics center, continuing on getting some bridges in this district, especially on Tyus-Carrollton Rd. We are continuing to work on getting some roads that need to be paved. Traffic and population on those roads have increased over the years. Continuing to work on our budgetary issues; we’ve continually been asked to do more with less. That’s probably one of the things that I’m most proud of is to be able to continue to offer the services that are needed for the citizens of District Six and the rest of Carroll County.”
 
Chambers was first elected to office in a special election in 2008.  Since that time he won elections in 2010 and 2014. Should he win this year, he would begin 2019 as the longest serving member on the Carroll County Board of Commissioners.
 
Qualifying for the District Six race begins March 5th.
