Carrrollton City Council on Monday is expected to cut down the number of hours in which restaurant patrons are permitted to consume alcoholic beverages outside of restaurants on Adamson Square.
Current law prohibits outside consumption of alcoholic beverages around the square from the hours of 2:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 2:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.
The proposed ordinance change would prohibit outside consumption beginning at 10:00 p.m. and lasting through 12:30 p.m. each day, unless there is a city-permitted special event in the central business district.
The proposed change comes after city staff reports a number of alcohol related incidents and arrests during the early-morning hours in the public areas of the central business district; and mayor and city council find it in the public interest to further limit the hours during which such off-premises consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed
