Carroll County School System Earns Historic Graduation Rate

(Carrollton, Ga. – November 10, 2020) The Georgia Department of Education recently released the official graduation rates for the Class of 2020, and the Carroll County School System earned a district rate of 95%. All five Carroll County high schools achieved individual graduation rates of more than 91%, with Mount Zion High School earning a perfect graduation rate of 100%, followed by Temple High School at 97.4%, Villa Rica High School at 95.5%, Central High School at 93.1%, and Bowdon High School at 91.9%. The Carroll County School System currently ranks 2nd in the state of Georgia for school districts with five or more high schools.

“This is a historic achievement for our district,” stated Scott Cowart, Superintendent of Carroll County School System. “We recognize that this year more than ever our Seniors along with our teachers and leaders raised the bar on academic excellence even in the midst of unprecedented times. Congratulations to the Class of 2020 and to our schools for their commitment to being premier.”

Dr. Jessica Ainsworth, Assistant Superintendent of School Performance added, “Historically high graduation rates for all of our high schools is testament to the alignment of instructional practices, a consistent focus on college and career readiness, and premier learning opportunities throughout the district. Our schools are committed to offering multiple pathways for students to achieve success and prepare them for life after graduation.”

For three consecutive years, Carroll County School System has earned graduation rates above 90%. The district is a leader in STEM education at all grade levels and is the only school system in Georgia that has two College and Career Academy locations with an array of award-winning programs to prepare students to be enrolled in post secondary education, enlisted in the military, or employed in the workforce.
