Carrollton, Ga (November 10, 2021) – On November 10, 2021, Daniel Reeves Perry, 28, and Jarrett William Hilton, 32, both of Temple, were arrested following an attempted catalytic converter theft investigation.
At approximately 10:00 AM, Carrollton Police Department officers responded to City Hall Avenue after being dispatched to a possible robbery in progress.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the caller who advised he witnessed the suspects attempting to remove a catalytic converter from a church van belonging to Carrollton First United Methodist Church.
When he confronted the males, an altercation ensued as he attempted to keep the suspects from leaving the area. The suspects then got into a vehicle, hit another vehicle, and continued down the road while dragging the witness who was able to escape uninjured.
Another witness was able to provide a partial tag of the suspect vehicle. That information, combined with the vehicle description, was entered into the FLOCK camera system and the suspect vehicle was able to be identified.
Within thirty minutes of the initial 911 call, investigators were able to locate the suspect vehicle at a residence in Temple. A search warrant, executed at the residence, led to the discovery of cut catalytic converters, cutting tools, and other evidence connecting the suspects to this incident.
Both Perry and Hilton were charged with Criminal Attempt Felony Theft by Taking, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Trespass, and Possession of Tools for the Commission of Certain Crimes. Both subjects were transported to Carroll County Jail.
