Villa Rica Police are investigating an armed robbery overnight that occurred at the CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Highways 61 and 78.
According to VRPD Captain Keith Shaddix: “At around 1:30am Sunday, a black male wearing a mask and gloves and holding a handgun entered the building. He forced employees —I believe there was three employees—back into the pharmacy area. He was in possession of at least two back packs which he ordered the victims to fill with drugs. I cannot say at this time if he had demanded specific drugs. The bags were filled and returned to our suspect. At some point, a potential customer had entered the store. This seemed to spook the suspect. He then left the store, but left one of his two filled bags behind. We are currently reviewing available surveillance video in the area to determine the direction he left and if he left on foot or had a vehicle. We are very early in our investigation.”
No physical injuries were reported.
Shaddix asks if anyone saw anything suspicious in the area around 1:30 Sunday morning that may be used to benefit this investigation, to contact VRPD or call 911.
