The last member of a group that committed an armed home invasion in Villa Rica in January was caught over the weekend.
Robert David Butler was arrested on Friday on arrest warrants for Aggravated Assault, Home Invasion – 1st Degree, Armed Robbery, and several lesser charges.
On January 2, 2025, shortly before 5 p.m., Villa Rica officers responded to Tanner Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim. At almost the exact same time, officers were dispatched to an address on Remington Court in reference to shots fired.
The victim of the gunshot wound, Maxwell Moore, was transported to Grady Hospital with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Villa Rica’s Special Response Team conducted an operation on the home at Remington Court, but found it vacant of anyone and there were no other gunshot victims inside the residence. What they did find was a lot of cash and drugs. Further investigation found that Maxwell’s wound was an accidental self-inflicted wound during an armed robbery/home invasion. Maxwell survived the gunshot wound and was later released and arrested.
Jarrett Thomas was also arrested within days of the incident for his part in the alleged home invasion.
Butler, Moore, and Thomas are all being held in the Carroll County Jail without bond.
This was not a random incident, but is believed to be a targeted event involving drug activity.
The home invasion and those involved remain under investigation.
