On 10-12-20 at approximately 11:23 AM, Officer Christy Alexander observed an altercation taking place at Hillcrest Dr. next to the cemetery. As she tried to approach both vehicles left the scene. Officer Alexander was able to stop one of the vehicles on Westview Dr and the second vehicle was located a short time later on 1st Street.
The investigation revealed that John Ross Brown, 37 years old, from Carrollton and Brandon Gary Moore, 25 years old, from Villa Rica were involved in an ongoing argument. On this date the two came in contact with each other and another confrontation occurred. During the confrontation, Moore pointed a rifle out of his vehicle as Brown was approaching. A shot was fired that hit the victim who was identified as Jacob Wright, 24 years old, from Villa Rica. Wright was riding with Brown and had left the vehicle in an attempt to separate the two.
A handgun was thrown from the vehicle occupied by Brown as he fled the scene. Brown was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Tampering with Evidence. Moore was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Wright was transported to an Atlanta hospital and is in stable condition.
