Villa Rica Police have arrested a Gainesville, Georgia man, almost ten months after they say he was involved in a fatal crash on Interstate-20 within city limits.
According to VRPD Captain Keith Shaddix:
On 11/20/2018, Villa Rica Police began investigating a crash on Interstate 20 involving Jesus Lorenzo Garcia, 26 years old, from Gainesville Ga., and Antony Oliver, 63 years old, from Villa Rica Ga. The investigation revealed that Garcia was driving a tractor trailer truck west on I-20 when he lost control causing the truck to overturn. Oliver then struck the undercarriage of the tractor trailer. Oliver was transported to Tanner Medical Center and later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
 Shaddix on Tuesday could not describe what caused Garcia to lose control of his vehicle.
A detailed investigation was conducted by Corporal Justin Lipscomb and on 02/26/2019 warrants were issued for Garcia. Those charges include Homicide by Vehicle 2nd Degree, Failure to Maintain Lane, Improper Lane Usage, and Reckless Driving.
On 08/31/2019 Garcia was arrested and taken to the Carroll Co Jail.
Garcia was released after meeting a $10,000 bond.
