(Carrollton, Ga.) The Georgia Department of Education has named three Carroll County high schools to the list of 2018 AP Honor Schools. Central High School was named AP STEM School and AP STEM Achievement School, Bowdon High School and Temple High School were both recognized as AP Challenge Schools.
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college-level courses offered by trained high school teachers in the regular high school setting. Carroll County School System offers students AP courses in English, Science, Math, Calculus, Statistics, World History, U.S. History, and Psychology.
AP STEM Schools are schools with students testing in at least two AP Math courses and two AP Science courses, such as AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics, or AP Computer Science.
AP STEM Achievement Schools are schools with students testing in at least two AP Math courses and two AP Science courses, at least 40% of the exam scores on the AP Math and AP Science exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
AP Challenge Schools are schools with enrollments of 900 or less with students testing in four of the core areas (English, Math, Science and Social Studies).
