Temple City Council finally passing the cityÂ’s new water and sewer ordinance. The ordinance included new water and sewer rates that see residential increases between 25% and 27%.
Earlier this year the Carroll County Water Authority increased the whole sale rate for water by 20% and combining this with lagging revenues that do not cover bond payments for the new sewer treatment plant, council decided rate increases were the solution.
Though this is a step in the right direction said City Administrator, Bill Osborne, the city can improve its water and sewer services including updating meter reading technology and clarifying the senior discount policy.
Councilman Todd Rothwell was the sole nay on the ordinance, expressing his thoughts that new policies should be instituted before a third rate increase in two years.
