Temple Finalizes List For T-SPLOST Projects

In two years, the City of Temple could receive an extra half million dollars a year in transportation fund, if the new county wide T-SPLOST is passed by voters in November. The preliminary list, which was approved by city council on Monday, will request funds to pave several roads, including Rocking D Rd and Oak Shade Rd, add sidewalks on Highway 113 and pave walking and biking trails near the Temple Rec. Department.

Temple Mayor, Michael Johnson will present this list of projects and cost estimates at a meeting on Wednesday between municipality leadership and Carroll County Chairman, Marty Smith.

City Manager, Bill Osborne said public hearings, where citizens can voice their opinion, will follow:

“The voters will make the ultimate decision and the voters will have the opportunity, within the next few weeks, to come to public hearings where they can oppose or support ideas.”

Osborne also voiced that the projected $2.5 million gained could be used as seed money for downtown railroad crossings.
