Tallapoosa Police are reviewing surveillance video in hopes of identifying two subjects alleged to have entered a local pharmacy before leaving with a large amount of prescription pills.
Investigator Mark Worthy says around 4:00 Friday morning officers were notified of an alarm from Tallapoosa Drugs on West Alabama Street.
Worthy says it appears that two males dressed in black shattered the front glass door of the pharmacy before entering.
“The suspects entered the building carrying a 5-gallon bucket,” Worthy said. “You can see on the video, them reading the labels on the shelves. When they found what they wanted they would just sweep the bottles into the bucket.”
Worthy says the suspects took a number of prescription drugs including benzodiazepines and opioids.
He says the suspects left the building within 50 seconds of setting off the alarm.
Investigators are working to obtain an image of the suspects from surveillance footage to share with the public.
