On Wednesday, the three remaining members of the Haralson County Board of Commissioners agreed to hire former commissioner and the likely future chairman, Ronnie Ridley, as interim chairman. That is until the special election for that role is conducted in mid March. Ridley is the only qualifier for the chairmanÂ’s race and could be sworn in as chairman as soon as March 20. Ridley would complete the unexpired term of Allen Poole, who resigned last Friday to accept a position with the stateÂ’s government under Brian Kemp.
Ridley will fulfill the duties of the day to day operations of the county effective immediately. He will not oversee commission meetings or direct the agenda until he is sworn in as full time chairman. Those duties fall to the vice chairman, who the board also selected on Wednesday. District 2 Commissioner Jamie Brown will hold that title through 2020. She replaces Ridley who resigned from his commission seat in order to run for chairman.
