Motorcyclist Charged With DUI Following Three-Vehicle Crash Tuesday

The Georgia State Patrol suggests that the drivers of two motorcycles on Georgia 61 in Carroll County Tuesday evening are likely to blame for a three vehicle crash.

According to DPS Public Information Officer, Franka Young:

Two motorcycles were traveling north on GA 61 near Lake Connie Road.  The two motorcycles were improperly passing motorists.  While passing other motorists, the front motorcycle struck the rear of an SUV causing it to lay down and the driver was thrown to the shoulder of the road.  The motorcycle then caught fire while lying in the right lane of GA 61.  After first impact, the second motorcycle slid onto its side and left the roadway onto the right shoulder.   The driver of the first motorcycle was charged with Driving Under the Influence and was transported to Grady Hospital.  The driver of the second motorcycle was transported to Tanner Carrollton Hospital with minor injuries.  The driver and passenger of the SUV were not injured.  The Crash report is not complete.

These are the preliminary findings of a crash investigation by Post 4 Villa Rica. This is an ongoing investigation.
