A Douglasville man was charged over the weekend for his role in a multi-vehicle crash in Carroll County last June, which resulted in a single fatality and numerous other injuries.
25-year old Tyrone Robinson is accused of driving to closely and too fast for conditions, after the 2013 International Model 4000 truck he was driving eastbound on I-20, struck the vehicle ahead, causing a chain reaction involving seven vehicles.
Sergeant M. T. Land with the GSP says the seven vehicles were driving through a work zone and the vehicles ahead of Robinson had begun to slow down. Land said Robinson was “inattentive” and collided with a 2006 Nissan Altima, driven by 43-year old Melinda Deloris Leazier of Bowdon. The accident happened just before 10:00am on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017. Leazier passed away as a result of injury caused by the crash.
Robinson is charged with homicide by vehicle in 2nd degree, which is a misdemeanor.
He has been released from the Carroll County Jail after posting a $7500 bond.
