A Tallapoosa Police officer has been taken to Atlanta Medical Center following a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.
According to investigatorsÂ’ initial report, a Tallapoosa Police vehicle was traveling North on Highway 100.
“As the vehicle approached the Highway 100 spur, it appears that another vehicle pulled out of Commuter Highway 100 and into his path,” Tallapoosa Police Investigator/ Spokesperson Mark Worthy told WLBB Radio. “Our officer entered the southbound lanes in an effort to avoid the oncoming vehicle. However, the two vehicles collided. After impact, the police vehicle went up an embankment and rolled over, onto its top,”
Worthy says the officer “was awake and talking” but he “complained of suffering hip pain.”
The female driver of the other vehicle has suffered “a number of broken bones” and was taken to Grady in Atlanta, according to Worthy.
