Leadership Changes at Carroll County Schools

February 16, 2023 — Carroll County Schools has announced new administrative assignments for two leaders following approval by the Carroll County Board of Education at its February 16 meeting.

Jared Griffis has been named Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources after the retirement of Dr. Christi Teal. Griffis has nearly two decades of leadership, coaching, and teaching experience and has been serving as administrator on assignment in human resources since June. He served as principal of Central High School from 2014 until 2022. During his tenure, CHS received numerous awards and recognitions, including district and national STEM Certification. Griffis earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary science education at the University of Georgia, his master’s degree in secondary science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a specialist in educational leadership from the University of West Georgia.

Lisa Puckett has been named coordinator of the South College and Career Academy effective at the retirement of Dr. Doug Wright. After beginning her career in the banking industry, Puckett began teaching business education in the Paulding County School System. She moved to Temple High School in 2007, first as a teacher, then as a graduation coach and later as assistant principal. She has served in her current role as assistant principal at Mount Zion High School since 2019. Puckett has a bachelor’s in business administration degree in finance from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in business education from the University of West Georgia and a specialist in educational leadership from Jacksonville State University.

“Both Mr. Griffis and Ms. Puckett are proven leaders who can excel in these two specialized areas,” Superintendent Scott Cowart said. “The team and culture that Mr. Griffis built at Central High School has demonstrated his ability to find, grow and keep good people in the right roles. Ms. Puckett’s finance degree, banking experience and time in business education give her a familiarity with for-profit businesses and industries that is essential in our career academies.”

“We look forward to the impact they will make to support our vision as a premier school district and positively change lives every day,” Cowart said.
