Inter-Governmental Agreement Clears Way For Metal Distributor To Bring between 90-120 Jobs To West Georgia

#BREAKING The #HaralsonCountyGA Board of Commissioners and the Haralson County Development Authority are partnering on a project that is expected to result in an Atlanta-based company opening a new location at the Georgia West Business Park near #BuchananGA.

Chamber of Commerce President Eric McDonald says metal distributer IMS/ Georgia Steel will purchase approximately 96 acres of the 183 acre park, with plans to erect a 400,000 square foot facility.

McDonald says the company is bringing up to 90 jobs from the Atlanta location, with approximately 20-percent of current employees not expected to re-locate to Buchanan. He said the company plans to have 120 employees eventually.

“We competed with Alabama for this,” McDonald said. “The company will receive a small tax incentive but it is not to aggressive.”

The park will be annexed into the city of Buchanan for use of city utilities and/or services.
