Carroll County Coroner Keith Hancock has not yet identified the person who died as the result of a house fire in the Fairfield Community late Thursday.
Hancock said the identity of the victim will need to be confirmed through DNA testing.
On March 21 at approximately 10:17 pm, Fairfield Plantation Fire Rescue and units from Carroll County Fire Rescue responded to the report of a residential fire on Lakeview Parkway. Upon arrival, units were met with heavy fire conditions on the second floor of the residence. Fire hydrants were readily available and the fire was brought under control within a few minutes, according to officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
