Villa Rica Police say a female who was shot in the face while driving Friday evening is recovering in an Atlanta-area hospital Saturday morning.
VRPD Captain Keith Shaddix said after 10:00pm a female driving on the southernmost portion of Dallas Highway was struck by a single bullet that apparently entered through her windshield. There was another person in the vehicle at the time of the incident and is reportedly uninjured.
Shaddix said after the driver was struck, she was able to bring the car to a stop and seek help.
Witnesses have claimed to hearing multiple shots fired in the area at the time of this incident, although only one shot broke through the windshield.
Investigators continue to talk with witnesses on Saturday and are reviewing surveillance and security video in the area.
