Dugan Selected As State Senate Majority Leader

Three lawmakers connected to west Georgia are taking on important roles for Republicans in the 2019 legislative session. One will fill one of the senate’s most powerful positions.

Tuesday, State Senate Republicans elected District 30 State Senator Mike Dugan of Carrollton, as Senate Majority Leader.

Dugan yesterday, said he’s honored to be in the roll:

“It is a great feeling, I appreciate it because it is selected by your peers to lead us in this transitional time. That is an awesome responsibility that I’m proud of and anxious and excited and all of those things at the same time. I’m appreciative that they had the faith in me to give me the opportunity to do this job.”

Meanwhile, Republicans in the State House of Representatives elected District 67 State Rep. Micah Gravley, of Douglasville, as Vice Chairman of the House Majority caucus. And, the House Republican caucus elected State Representative Trey Kelley of Cedartown as the new House Majority Whip. Kelley represents a portion of Haralson county in the house.
