Deputies say 2-year old shot with pellet rifle, died Thursday

On Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 6:08 PM, Haralson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a possible cardiac arrest on Poseyville Road.

Deputies and emergency personnel met with the complainant at Corinth Poseyville Road and Business 27 in Bremen to take over CPR. Emergency personnel were advised that the child had been shot by a bb gun. The victim, two-year-old Jaylea Hutchinson, was transported to Tanner Medical Center at Higgins where she succumbed to her injuries.

During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the child had been shot with a pellet gun.

Investigators and Crime Scene Technicians worked at the scene last night and the investigation is continuing today.

At this time, it is believed to be a tragic accidental shooting. No further information will be released at this time due to this being an active and ongoing investigation.

“Please join me in praying for this family,” states Sheriff Stacy Williams. “We ask that you respect the privacy of the family as they deal with the tragic loss of such a young child.
