County To Rule on Rezoning Of Land For New Subdivision

Land developers possibly thinking now is the right time to cash in on an investment that they made thirty years ago. The developers are requesting that the Carroll County Board of Commissioners to allow for a new residential subdivision that could offer up to 35 new houses just outside of the Carrollton city limits.

The land owners purchased the 36 acres of land at Oak Mountain and Newnan Roads for $133,000 back in 1992.

They are now hoping that Carroll CountyÂ’s Board of Commissioners will allow for a rezoning of the property from agriculture to residential.

The developers said new homes would be conventional, built on approximately one acre lots and cost in the range of $200,000 to $300,000. If built, the new houses would fall within the Carroll County School District Central Cluster. The developers and county staff claimed the new subdivision should have only a minimal impact on traffic in the area. County officials said future land use of the current agriculture property is intended for residential.
