This weekend, the community remembered the 13-year-old Carrollton boy who was shot and killed while he laid in his own bed 4-years ago.Â
Nizzear Rodriguez had just celebrated his 13th birthday with family and friends the day before his murder.
Over this past weekend, Legends West Park was the site of the 4th annual Nizzear Day. It is an event with entertainment and food which pays tribute to the memory of Nizzear. He was described by family members as an intelligent youth who always smiled and loved to play basketball.
The 17-year old male alleged to have pulled the trigger in RodriquezÂ’s murder was acquitted of that charge in 2016. He was however, convicted of burglary.
