Haralson County Commissioner and local business owner Ronnie Ridley is the first to go public with intent to qualify to run for Haralson County Commission Chairman next month.
Qualifying dates of February 6, 7, and 8 were set by the Haralson County Elections Office this week.
Current Chairman Allen Poole is set to resign from the role he has held since 2005, on February 15th. He is expected to accept a position in the administration of Georgia Governor, Brian Kemp.
A Special Election has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 19. The winner of that race will finish out the remainder of PooleÂ’s existing term, which expires at the end of 2020.
The 62-year old Ridley, is owner of River City Propane, and is closing in on two years serving as the District Three Commissioner on the Haralson County Board of Commissioners.
Ridley was elected to the District Three CommissionerÂ’s seat in March of 2017 during a special election to continue the remaining portion of the term left with the passing of his brother Donnie, in January.
Ridley told WLBB Radio on Wednesday that he will resign from his current elected position at 5:00pm on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019. He says he will then qualify for the election for Haralson County Chairman, the next day.
