CARROLLTON, GA — For the second consecutive year, the Carrollton High School JROTC Raider team hosted its home meet on Saturday, Sept. 13. The event featured competitions spread across the Carrollton City Schools campus, challenging teams in multiple events throughout the day.
Both the boys and girls teams for Carrollton High School secured first-place overall finishes, with nine schools competing in each division. The boys won the rope bridge and obstacle course competitions, while placing second in the team run, physical training test, and tire flip. The girls also won the rope bridge and obstacle course, adding first-place honors in the team run and a second-place finish in the physical training test and tire flip.
“I’m very proud of all the training that our teams have put in this season,” head Raiders coach Master Sergeant Ryan McLain said. “They all have worked extremely hard, and the results showed at our home meet. We are very fortunate to have such a great facility to host this event and use for practice throughout the season.”
Now in its fourth year, the program includes 41 cadets led by Austin Ennis, boys team captain, and Kenia Hernandez, girls team captain. Both squads have built momentum this season, competing in four meets and earning four individual event wins. Highlights include a boys team victory at Wheeler High School and a third-place finish for the girls at Wheeler on Aug. 23.
The Raiders have three more events this season, including their next meet Saturday, Sept. 20, at Osborne Park in Euharlee, Georgia. They will continue to compete in preparation for the Raiders State Championship on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Milledgeville, Georgia.
