CHS Athletic Director receives top honor from GADA

ATHENS, GEORGIA — Carrollton High School’s Athletic Director, Coach Paul Fitz-Simons, has been named the Athletic Director of the Year for Class AAAAAAA by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA). The prestigious honor recognizes Fitz-Simons’ exceptional leadership, dedication, and contributions to the school’s athletic program.

The award was announced during the GADA’s annual conference, where Fitz-Simons was commended for his outstanding achievements and contributions to high school athletics. As the Athletic Director of the Year for Class AAAAAAA, he joins an elite group of leaders who have made a significant impact on athletics in Georgia.

Fitz-Simons, who has been in charge of Carrollton’s athletic department for the past eight years, expressed gratitude for the recognition. 

“It’s truly an honor to receive this award, and I want to share it with our incredible coaches, athletes, and the entire Carrollton community,” Fitz-Simons said. “This achievement is a testament to the collective effort we’ve put into building a strong and successful athletic program.”

Under his guidance, CHS has added six new varsity sports and offers every GHSA sport and activity. Trojan athletic teams have excelled on the field, winning 79 region and area championships and eight team state titles. CHS has also hosted 15 state championship events, including the state cross country meets yearly. 

CHS Principal Ian Lyle praised Fitz-Simons’ leadership and impact on the school’s athletic program. 

“Coach Fitz-Simons has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the development of our student-athletes, both in their chosen sports and the classroom,” said Lyle. “His vision and dedication have elevated the overall athletic experience for our students, and this recognition is well-deserved. We look forward to continued success under Coach Fitz-Simons’ guidance.”
