Carrollton Woman Dies Days After Being Pulled From Carrollton House Fire

Carroll County, Georgia – August 17, 2025, at approximately 2:09 a.m., Carroll County Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire at 163 Laurel Trace North. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence.

The first arriving Engine Company quickly completed a scene size-up. Firefighters began offensive operations with entry through the front door to begin fire suppression with search and rescue operations in the searchable spaces within the structure. Firefighter Cody Wallace and Firefighter Kelaiah Brookshire located an occupant, later identified as Ms. Elanie Davis, between the kitchen and living room. She was removed from the residence, and immediate medical care was initiated.

Ms. Davis was unresponsive but breathing on her own at the time of removal. She sustained significant burn injuries. West Georgia Ambulance arrived on scene and assumed medical treatment of the patient. With the support of additional responding fire units, a secondary search of the structure was conducted, and the fire was quickly brought under control. Fire personnel also assisted in establishing a secure landing zone for an air ambulance, facilitating the patient’s transport to a trauma center.

Despite the rapid response and extensive efforts of emergency crews, Ms. Davis tragically succumbed to her injuries yesterday.

“This incident demonstrates the importance of a search-minded mission and the dedication of our firefighters to protecting the lives of our citizens,” said Fire Chief Dave Wade. “Our crews gave Ms. Davis the best possible chance of survival through their rapid and professional actions. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Carroll County Fire Rescue remains committed to its mission of saving lives and protecting property. “It is both our duty and our honor to serve the citizens and visitors of Carroll County. The safety of our community is the reason our department exists, and every day we strive to provide the highest level of service,” Chief Wade added.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
