A local school system is kicking the tires and giving a test drive to an electric school bus.
School officials say they hope to determine range, feasibility, and overall impact the electric option would have on transportation to the school district.
“We are prioritizing being good stewards of our resources while trying to stay ahead of changing technology,” Carrollton Schools District Superintendent Mark Albertus told WLBB Radio Tuesday. “We are taking into consideration student safety, cost, and the environmental impact for future bus purchases and this test run allows us to do that more effectively.”
At the beginning of the 2023 school year – school districts had so far committed to an estimated 13-thousand electric school buses in 38 states.
